SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS MEBEFORE REAGAN LOUISE MCKEE FOUND HERSELF TO BE PREGNANT, SHE ATTENDED THE SPEAK EASY ON AN ALMOST DAILY BASIS. THE PLACE HAD THE EXCITEMENT, MOTION, AND NOISE THAT REAGAN DESIRED. IT SUPPLIED HER WITH TUNES, SOCIAL INTERACTION, AND HARD LIQUOR. IT GAVE HER A PLACE TO BE WHEN EVERYONE SHE KNEW WAS BUSY AND COULDN'T HANGOUT. REAGAN WAS A REGULAR THERE AND SHE WASN'T ASHAMED OF IT. IN FACT, SHE FOUND SOMETHING COMFORTING IN THE FACT THAT SHE WAS ON A FIRST NAME BASIS WITH ALL THE BARTENDERS. AFTER REAGAN FOUND OUT SHE WAS PREGNANT, ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO, SHE BEGAN TO AVOID THE PLACE. SHE STOPPED GOING THERE ALL TOGETHER AS TO PREVENT HER FROM DRINKING. NOW, IN HER FOURTH MONTH, REAGAN FELT ACCUSTOMED TO NOT DRINKING AND WAS YEARNING FOR THE JAZZ THAT WAS CONSTANTLY PLAYED IN THE CLUB. AFTER A GREAT DEBATE WITH HERSELF, SHE DECIDED TO GO.
REAGAN SLIPPED INTO HER SIGNATURE BLACK DRESS AND APPLIED HER BRIGHT RED LIPSTICK. GOING TO THE SPEAK EASY WAS GOING TO BE A REAL EVENT FOR HER. SHE HAD TURNED INTO QUITE THE RECLUSE. RAE STOOD IN FRONT OF HER MIRROR FOR A GOOD FIVE MINUTES INSPECTING HER LOOKS. THOUGH OTHERS COULDN'T SEE IT, SHE COULD SEE THE TOLL THE PREGNANCY WAS ALREADY TAKING ON HER BODY. HER FACE NOW HAD A ROUNDED APPEARANCE AND SHE HAD GAINED EIGHT WHOLE POUNDS. THAT SIGNATURE BLACK DRESS OF HER WAS A LITTLE MORE SNUG IN THE STOMACH AND BUM AS WELL. REAGAN SIGHED SHE INSPECTED HER TRANSFORMING BODY. SHE KNEW THAT IT WOULD ONLY BE SO LONG BEFORE EVERYONE AND ANYONE WHO SAW HER WOULD KNOW. THIS MIGHT BE HER LAST NIGHT ON THE TOWN WITHOUT BEING SEEN AS A PREGNANT BROAD AND SHE WAS GOING TO ENJOY IT.
IT TOOK HER APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES TO GET TO THE SPEAK EASY. SHE ZOOMED HER WAY OVER THERE IN HER BLUE PRIUS. AFTER PARKING AT THE FITZGERALD HOTEL, SHE WALKED AROUND THE BACK TO THE SPEAK EASY AND SPOKE THE PASSWORD. THE BOUNCER LET HER IN AFTER LOOKING AT HER I.D. REAGAN KNEW HE WAS WONDERING IF SHE WAS ACTUALLY TWENTY-TWO. PEOPLE OFTEN SAID SHE LOOKED YOUNGER THAN SHE ONCE. ONCE SHE WAS INSIDE THE SPEAK EASY, SHE INSTANTLY SMELLED THE CIGARETTE SMOKE AND THE SMELL OF SCOTCH IN THE AIR. THERE WAS LOUD JAZZ PLAYING AND THE SINGER REMINDED HER OF THE FAMOUS BILLIE HOLIDAY. DESPITE THE FACT SHE WOULDN'T BE DRINKING, REAGAN TOOK A SEAT UP AT THE BAR. SHE KEPT HER EYES GLUED ON THE SINGER FOR A FEW MOMENTS BEFORE TURNING TO THE BARTENDER AND ORDERING A COCA-COLA. HE GAVE HER AN ODD LOOK AND THEN PRECEDED TO GIVE HER THE NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINK. IT WAS GOING TO BE A LONG NIGHT, BUT HOPEFULLY AN EVENTFUL ONE. IF SOMEONE WAS TO WAIT AROUND THE SPEAK EASY FOR LONG ENOUGH, SOMETHING EXCITING AND SCANDALOUS WAS BOUND TO HAPPEN.

Post by MAXWELL LEON GOLIGHTLY on May 17, 2010 23:06:33 GMT -5
it had been quite some time since maxwell had made his way to the speak easy. of course, he was normally busy with his own clubs or business deals, but on occasion he liked to stop into the speak easy. after all, it was his job as an older brother to take the time and admire the place his baby sister had created. so with having the night off from meetings and business calls he decided to take time to visit the familiar club. after a quick glance in the mirror at his suit clad frame, he hurried out the door, flipping a fedora onto his head as stepped outside. the evening air held a hint of chill as the breeze blew against him, but it wasn't exactly cold. in fact, it was rather warm out but the breeze insisted on chilling him, if even for a moment.
his walk wasn't the shortest, but it wasn't exactly long either. he could've easily taken a cab and gotten there faster, but at this time of night he preferred to walk. both manhasset and great neck were constantly filled with residences that held parties on a nightly basis. there was always lights filling the area, especially near the coast. it was a weird quality about him, but he liked to admire it. sure, he loved his share of attending parties, but he also liked to admire them from afar. the vibrant and luminous lights and music kept him rather intrigued.
he slowed his pace as he spotted the fitzgerald hotel, heading towards the back entrance instead of the main entrance. after all, the club was hidden near the back entrance of the hotel. if anyone on the street had seen him, they'd probably say he looked a bit sketchy, but he continued in that direction nonetheless. as he reached the entrance to the club, he sent a distinct nod in the direction of the bouncer. after all, he knew the man quite well and after attending so many times, asking for a password or an i.d. was unnecessary. his eyes quickly adjusted to the change in setting as he stepped inside. the jazz music quickly filled his ears and the heat of all the people hit him almost instantly. he took a few steps towards the bar, moving himself away from the doorway and away from the crowd of people.
he glanced lightly around the room, hoping to rest upon a familiar figure of some sort, perhaps someone to strike up a conversation with, and perhaps if he were lucky something more. he saw no one at first. a few people who were moderately familiar, but no one worth talking to, that is until he turned around to see an extremely familiar face sitting at the bar. a smile graced his lips as he took a few more steps in that direction, coming up behind the familiar blonde, watching her a moment before taking the seat next to her. "nice choice of drink." he joked as his eyes lay upon the glass of coke in front of her. he had to admit, it was an awful conversation starter, but what else was he to say? surely hello was far too boring.
he watched her a moment, waiting for a response. reagan was always very intriguing to him, even since their first meeting years ago. they had met while she was dating his older brother alistaire, and it had always baffled him why the two had ever been together. she was so, well.. perfect, and he was not up to her standards by any means, but max had always rationalized the situation by the common fact that the assholes always got the women. max had to admit , he had always been a bit jealous of that aspect. it wasn't so much that he had wanted her per se, but the fact that his brother had managed to keep a girl like her for quite some time made him a bit envious.

SOMETIMES I FIND IT HARD• to believe there's someone else who could be •JUST AS MESSED UP AS MEIT WAS UNNECESSARY FOR REAGAN TO EVEN TURN HER HEAD. SHE WAS ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE OWNER OF THE VOICE FROM THE MOMENT SHE HEARD IT. MAXWELL GOLIGHTLY, IT JUST HAD TO BE HIM. HIS VOICE WAS ONE SHE HAD KNOWN FOR YEARS AND WAS ONE SHE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FORGET. DESPITE BEING ABSOLUTELY SURE OF WHO HER SUITOR WAS, SHE CHECKED FOR A CONFIRMATION. AS REAGAN TURNED HER HEAD TO SEE MAX, THE FIRST THING SHE NOTED WAS HIS FEDORA. ONLY MAXWELL WOULD HAVE THE AUDACITY TO OWN SUCH A HAT AND TO ACTUALLY WEAR IT OUT. REAGAN HAD TO ADMIRE HIS STYLE. WITH A SMIRK ON HER FACE, RAE RETORTED. "NICE HAT." A TONE OF SARCASM WAS IN REAGAN'S VOICE BUT SHE WASN'T BEING SARCASTIC IN THE LEAST; SHE ACTUALLY DID LIKE HIS FEDORA. IT WAS JUST AS STUPID AND RIDICULOUS OF A THING TO SAY AS "NICE CHOICE OF DRINK," BUT REAGAN DIDN'T CARE. A CONVERSATION STARTER WAS A CONVERSATION STARTER. AND HELL, AT LEAST THEY WEREN'T TALKING ABOUT THE WEATHER.
TURNING IN HER STOOL, REAGAN REACHED OUT FOR HER DRINK. THE GLASS WAS ICE-COLD AND WET WITH CONDENSATION. KNOWING THAT THE GLASS WOULD BE SLIPPERY, REAGAN GRASPED IT FIRMLY BEFORE TAKING A LONG SIP FROM IT. COCA-COLA HAD RECENTLY BECOME REAGAN'S FAVORITE DRINK SINCE SHE HAD SWITCHED TO NON-ALCOHOLIC DRINKS. SHE COULD ONLY DRINK A LIMITED AMOUNT OF THE HEAVILY CAFFEINATED DRINK, BUT IT DIDN'T PREVENT HER FROM DRINKING THE LITTLE SHE COULD. REAGAN PLACED HER DRINK BACK DOWN ON THE BAR AND LOOKED FROM THE GLASS TO MAXWELL. "YOU WANT SOMETHING? IT'S MY TREAT."
NOT FINISHED!!!
