holden was well behaved, polite, and all around a member of a family of the lord in his youth. when his mother died in a hit and run accident, he was left with little faith in the lord and when the person who hit her was never found he had little faith in the justice system. he believed in self preservation, in defense, and in fighting for your rights. in high school, his father - sick of the arguments and unruly behavior holden served out - kicked holden out and holden was forced to find his own apartment and speak with his guidance counselor about his chances of surviving on his own. her advice was to join the schools ROTC program and he took it, joining the military right out of high school. as a navy seal he lives the life of a soldier.
